Reconstitution calculator
Work out the concentration, the volume and the number of units to draw up after reconstituting a lyophilised peptide.
What is reconstitution?
A lyophilised peptide (powder) is dissolved in bacteriostatic water. The volume of water added determines the final concentration — and therefore the number of units to draw for a given dose.
Concentration
Concentration = amount of peptide (mg) ÷ water added (ml). The more water you add, the more dilute the solution and the more units you draw for the same dose.
Reading the syringe
On a U-100 insulin syringe, “1 ml” corresponds to 100 units (IU). The result tells you how many units to draw, up to the matching mark.
Dilution tip
Choose a volume of water that gives an easy-to-read number of units (neither too small nor beyond the syringe's capacity).
